Phreesia, a leader in patient intake, outreach and activation that enables one in six patient visits across the U.S., is supporting The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research, to raise educational awareness and research onramps for the Parkinson’s disease community.
In a 6-month project, Phreesia will reach patients and caregivers with timely, relevant and accurate educational messaging about Parkinson’s disease just ahead of medical appointments, to encourage informed conversations between patients, caregivers and healthcare providers. Launching in November, the joint campaign will reach over 100,000 clinically relevant patients and caregivers as part of an ongoing effort to support Parkinson’s disease research awareness and study enrollment.
“The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s single, urgent goal remains to find better therapies and a cure for people and families with Parkinson’s. Expanding access to trusted educational information, including how to play a role in research, is a critical part of the puzzle,” said Maggie Kuhl, Vice President of Patient Engagement at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. “We look forward to working with Phreesia’s digital patient engagement tools to help empower people and families to learn more about better brain health and be part of the solutions we seek.”
The collaboration will bring MJFF’s educational resources to people living with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers, as well as individuals diagnosed with or experiencing symptoms of REM sleep behavior disorder (a condition closely linked to Parkinson’s). As part of an effort to understand if the point-of-care environment can build awareness among individuals who may be earlier in their Parkinson’s journey, the collaboration will also reach adults aged 40 and older with resources about neurological health. By giving patients access to appointment-friendly resources, and ongoing information and support directly from MJFF, the campaign is designed to help patients and caregivers ask better questions, recognize early signs and take a more active role in their care.
“The Michael J. Fox Foundation is a tremendous advocate and resource for families facing Parkinson’s disease, and we are delighted to bring their expertise to the Phreesia network,” said David Linetsky, President, Phreesia Network Solutions. “Supporting educational awareness and research onramps for such a serious condition is something we wholeheartedly support. Helping patients recognize symptoms of Parkinson’s earlier and get connected to the care they need is part of our ongoing effort to make care easier.”
