LOS ANGELES and ATLANTA — September 3, 2026 — CAREGD, the Human Infrastructure
company helping leaders understand what people carry so they can respond earlier, today announced the launch of America Checks In, a national movement designed to make meaningful checking in a normal part of everyday life.
America Checks In is built around a simple practice: start with yourself, check on three people and keep checking in. Participants are encouraged to call, text, show up, ask a meaningful question, listen to the answer and follow up, not because they necessarily know something is wrong, but because people matter.
“People should not have to fall apart before somebody notices,” said Lisa Williams, Founder and CEO of CAREGD and Founder of America Checks In. “We say ‘you good?’ all the time, but how often do we stop long enough to really hear the answer? America Checks In is about making that pause, that question and that follow-up part of how we live.”
A Simple Way to Turn Care Into Action
Relationships remain one of the most important sources of meaning in American life, yet many people say they are not receiving as much emotional support as they need. According to the American Psychological Association’s 2025 Stress in America
research, 69% of U.S. adults said they could have used more emotional support during the previous year, while 92% identified relationships as a key source of meaning in their lives.
America Checks In is not asking people to become counselors, therapists or crisis responders. Instead, it encourages people to do something more universal by noticing one another, asking meaningful questions, listening and staying connected.
Life moves fast, people carry a lot quietly and good intentions do not always become action. America Checks In gives people a simple way to act on the care they already feel.
Starting With Yourself
Before asking participants to check on someone else, America Checks In begins with a brief personal check-in. Participants are invited to pause and consider where their headspace is right now, how much they are carrying and what would help most in that moment.
From there, the movement turns outward by encouraging each participant to intentionally check on three people. Those three might be a son or daughter, parent or grandparent, friend, teammate, coworker, neighbor, or simply someone who has been on their mind.
Someone has probably been on your mind. America Checks In asks people to start there.
A check-in may take two minutes or lead to a longer conversation. It might happen through a text message, a phone call, coffee, sitting beside someone or stopping by to see them. There is no requirement that the other person disclose anything private, and participants are not expected to solve another person’s problems. The intent is to make time, ask the question, listen and check back.
America Checks In describes that idea through a simple principle: the village is not just where we live; it is how we show up for each other.
One Movement, Many Ways In
America Checks In is designed so the same behavior can move naturally across families, workplaces, schools, sports, faith communities, associations and neighborhoods.
Anyone can participate in the movement. People who want to help establish its First Wave can become Founding Check-In Leaders, while groups that want to practice and spread the behavior together can participate as Founding Communities.
Organizations can also bring America Checks In to the people they serve through CAREGD-built Check-In Experiences, participation pathways and measurement infrastructure. Depending on the experience, CAREGD can provide customized participation journeys, campaign links and QR codes, communication assets, participation measurement and appropriate aggregate Human Insight Reports
.
CAREGD measures patterns and participation rather than people’s private conversations, and individual check-in disclosures are not shared with participating organizations.
“This isn’t about asking a manager, coach, pastor, parent or teammate to become a therapist,” Williams said. “It is about creating cultures where noticing people, asking real questions and following up becomes normal.”
CAREGD is also inviting companies, institutions and other aligned organizations to become Founding Movement Partners and help bring America Checks In experiences into communities and populations they already serve.
From a Moment to a Habit
America Checks In is intentionally designed around behavior rather than awareness alone. CAREGD’s long-term ambition is to help inspire one million meaningful check-ins across the country while learning what helps a single moment of connection become a repeatable human habit.
The company plans to measure movement-level participation and growth while protecting the privacy of individual conversations. Beyond understanding whether someone checked in once, CAREGD is interested in a larger behavioral question: whether people continue checking in over time.
Most people do not need to be convinced that their family, friends, coworkers or neighbors matter. America Checks In is creating a simple structure that helps people behave like they matter more consistently.
Human Infrastructure for the AI Era
America Checks In is the flagship national movement created and powered by CAREGD. CAREGD describes its broader work as Human Infrastructure
for the AI Era, encompassing experiences, systems and aggregate human insight designed to help leaders better understand and strengthen the people behind performance.
As artificial intelligence changes how people work, communicate and make decisions, CAREGD believes greater technological capability must be accompanied by greater human intentionality.
“We are becoming incredibly intentional about building smarter technology, and we should become just as intentional about staying connected to one another,” Williams said. “AI can change how we work. It should not make the people behind the work less visible.”
America Checks In brings that philosophy beyond organizations and into everyday life. Participation does not require a special title, formal training or perfect words. It can begin simply because someone comes to mind and a person decides to reach out.
The Invitation
America Checks In is now inviting individuals, families, communities, organizations and Founding Movement Partners across the country to help establish its First Wave by starting with themselves, checking on three people and continuing to check in.
